With camp underway for Michigan football, the focus is on perfecting the craft of getting championship ready at every single position.

As camp heats up news and rumors will be flying around like drones over the next few weeks. The Middle Tennessee State game is on the horizon and the prep work will lead to these things happening. No one knows yet what the future holds but the speculation for a new Michigan football season is what we all yearn for.

Everyone is aware of the position battles at some of the main spots on the roster, but what about the lesser talked about battles. I’m talking about the slot receiver position on offense; the nickel corner battle on defense and arguably the most important job of them all — kicker.

Last year the Wolverines were not too worried at cornerback because of the depth. This year is a different story with little to no experience returning. In the slot, the depth is eerily the same with a veteran and new freshmen talent.

At kicker, Quinn Nordin was slotted to be the unquestionable leader there. A top-ranked recruit at his position with basically no competition at the time meant smooth sailing for the newly minted freshmen. That lasted shorter then he would have wanted to.

Now going into a new campaign there are new and familiar faces fighting to be the primary contributor at these vital starting roles. Let’s dive in a little more and break down who is going to have the best chance to win these three under-the-radar-camp battles.
