Michigan Basketball: 3 former Wolverines Franz Wagner resembles
Duncan Robinson
To put it simply, Duncan Robinson has been one of Michigan basketball’s greatest success stories. The former Division III transfer was solid for each of his three seasons in Ann Arbor and he was particularly effective as a perimeter shooter. Now, he is a member of the Miami Heat.
For his career at UM, Robinson made 41 percent of his 3-point attempts and averaged 2.1 (made) 3-point field goals per game during the 115 games he played as a Wolverine.
Robinson is 6-foot-8 and has a thin frame just as Wagner does and while he didn’t come to Michigan as the greatest defender, he developed into the Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year by his senior season and he was vital in the Wolverines run to the national championship game in 2017.
Like Robinson, Wagner will add spacing to an offense that desperately needs it. He’s an excellent spot-up shooter, who can also score in the pick-and-roll and off the dribble. While many are hoping Wagner has a freshman season like Iggy did last year, if Wagner is able to score in double figures as Robinson did in 2015-16, that would be considered a win.
