Livers needs to become a big-time scorer

When you look back at last season, Livers was one of the core players for Michigan basketball and made some big contributions averaging 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and shooting 48 percent from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range.

He was named the best player off the bench for the Wolverines and his production made that a no-brainer. But now he will be moving back into the starting lineup, which is something he is used to having started 22 games as a freshman and 25 total.

What’s he not used to is carrying the load offensively for the Wolverines but that’s something the 6-foot-7 wing will need to start doing. With his 3-point shot, his ability to drive and score in the post, as well as score in the mid-range, Livers should easily be able to add five points or so to his scoring average.

Howard has been impressed with Livers and he said as much in a recent interview with 247 sports:

"“So much talent, so skilled. Big guard, great attitude, excellent work ethic.  He’s steady. I don’t see anything changing for him when it comes to his attitude and how he approaches the game. We’re gonna lean on him a lot. I trust that he will produce.” We’re gonna lean on him a lot. I trust that he will produce.”"

If Michigan is going to contend in the Big Ten and get back to the NCAA tournament, Livers needs to produce on both ends of the floor and for the first time in his career, become a consistent double-digit scorer.
