Michigan Basketball: 3 ways Franz Wagner helps Wolverines right away
Franz Wagner committed to play for Michigan basketball Saturday and in terms of next season, here are three ways he will be an immediate help.
When it comes to recruiting, one of the questions is always how will the player help right away? What can he do now? In terms of Franz Wagner and Michigan basketball, the recent Wolverines commit can do a lot.
If it feels like some Michigan basketball fans are making too big a deal about landing Wagner, trust me, it’s justified. No matter who the head coach is and who the credit goes to, having Wagner on the roster makes the Wolverines much better next season.
He also gives Michigan one of the best recruits it has landed in the last decade. It’s a little tough to judge because Wagner isn’t ranked among American prospects, however, if he was, experts have said he would be ranked among the top 50.
At the very least, Wagner would be a four-star recruit and unlike some other recruits, he has played basketball at a professional level, reaching the top level of German hoops and even scoring 14 points in game two of the championship series.
While his talent makes the addition really important, the other thing is how he fits with the roster. Unlike his brother, Mortiz Wagner, who came to Michigan as a big that could shoot from 3-point range, Franz is a two or a three that can fill the huge need the Wolverines had on the wing.
Wagner is going to help head coach Juwan Howard and UM in a number of ways next season and here are three ways he immediately makes the Wolverines better.
