Shakur Juiston

247Sports published an article last month about the top ten ‘impact’ grad transfers from around the country and UNLV’s Shakur Juiston made the list at three.

“Whoever lands him will get a 6-foot-7, 220-pound monster on the glass.” 247Sports Kevin Flaherty wrote. “Juiston played in just eight games last year — Borzello wrote that he should get a redshirt for the season — averaging 10.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, while two years ago his numbers were even higher, with 14.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest.”

Juriston missed a majority of the 2018-19 season with a knee injury allowing him another year of eligibility, a year he could spend leading the Wolverines to a Big Ten title.

“The surgery was very successful,” Rebels head coach Marvin Menzies said about the injury. “He’s still going through rehab and he’s probably a month away from being able to go full-contact and participate in normal basketball activities. Everything is good. He’s heading in the right direction and healing up great.”

Should Shakur join Michigan, he and Isaiah Livers would compete at the four leaving the other at the wing. Since Livers has the better three-point shot, Shakur would fit best at four where his rebounding skills would be highlighted.

Prior to UNLV, Juiston competed at Hutchinson Community College where he averaged a double-double (14.6 points and 10 rebounds).
