It’s not too late for Michigan basketball to grab 5 talented players from the transfer portal who were granted immediate eligibility.

Michigan basketball lost a legend in former head coach John Beilein and they lost three starters. As the newly hired  Juwan Howard begins practices with the players on the current roster, he may want to look outside the program for additional help in filling the void.

Don’t get me wrong here, there is plenty of talent left on the roster but this is a team who lost three times to Michigan State and their top recruit for the upcoming season has since committed elsewhere. Freshman Cole Bajema is very skilled at his position but he looks and plays like a wing and Michigan basketball is in dire need of another shooting guard, or just about anyone who can score and vault the program past Tom Izzo.

The only hope outside of the Transfer Portal is Franz Wagner who is deciding between pro basketball in Germany or coming to Michigan. In case you missed it, Howard was interviewed by the Sklar brothers and spoke about Franz which may have been a violation against NCAA recruiting rules or it may not have been a violation after all. It could be a sign Howard knows more than he’s revealing about Moe’s younger brother.

All avenues must be explored and when looking at the transfer portal, there are at least five guys looking for a new school with immediate eligibility, and each of them has the ability to bump the Wolverines up a notch or two. They may not necessarily have what it takes to take UM to the top of the Big Ten but they could add a few wins and maybe sneak the team into the NCAA tournament.

Without further ado, here a look at each of the five candidates.
