The final two

Out of the final two guys, I can’t decide who I am more excited about. These two play on opposite sides of the ball making the comparison difficult. Yet both are equally intriguing.

Blake Corum

Blake Corum joined Garcia as the two RB’s for the 2020 class and unlike Gaige, Corum is known by everyone. Blake hails from Maryland where he plays ball for St. Francis Academy – a national powerhouse with close ties to Michigan.

Blake is the fourth Michigan football commit from the school and is the highest ranked so far. Corum is ranked 8th in-state, 17th at RB, and 201st nationally. His composite score is 9229 and he holds four-stars.

247Sports Brian Dohn provided the following scouting report on Blake:

"Corum has burst, can change direction at a high speed, is patient in waiting for plays to develop and he knows how to set up his blocks down the field. He is elusive, and he he runs with power. He has the speed to get to the edge, and the balance to turn the corner. As he gets older, his size and strength will continue to develop. He also will develop more ability to cut back."

Usually, a comparison is also provided and one might come later but for now, I’ll add my own comparison which is Mike Hart. Both slightly undersized, but both have heart and a burst you can’t coach, train, or teach.

Kalel Mullings

Since Kalel Mullings freshman year, defensive coordinator Don Brown has been after him. The reason, well, I’ll let Kalel’s high school coaches words speak for themselves.

“I think what makes him a good linebacker is he’s got that prototypical size,” Milton Academy head coach Kevin MacDonald said. “He’s got the big hands and feet, so he’s probably going to continue to grow. The hands are enormous, which is an advantage playing linebacker.

“He runs really well, he’s a track guy, 100-meter dash guy, around 10.9, 11-flat. So for a big kid — he’s 225 pounds, 6-foot-2 — he runs really well. He runs to the ball. He’s a pretty aggressive kid.”

I guess Kalel is using his giant hands the right way because he is ranked as the No. 1 football player from Massachusetts and the No. 9 OLB. His national ranking is 148 and he is the third highest ranked commit to Michigan for the 2020 class.
