Michigan Football: 5 key targets that remain for Wolverines in 2020
Michigan football has been on a tremendous recruiting run this week, with 10 commitments since Sunday. But it’s not over and here are five more key targets.
The past week has been pretty fun for Michigan football fans. Obviously, winning recruiting battles is nothing compared to winning football games, but you don’t win games unless you win with recruits.
Following the 2017 season, some thought that Michigan would start to see a decline in recruiting. The 2017 season wasn’t great and the 2018 recruiting class wasn’t great either.
But things changed for Michigan football. The Wolverines were better on the field last year and posted the top recruiting class in 2019. Now, they are poised to do the same thing in 2020 after surging into the top five nationally and No. 1 in the Big Ten with all their recent commits.
Ohio State has a really strong class too and there is a good chance the Buckeyes can finish ahead of Michigan. However, this class has a top-10 feel, especially if Jim Harbaugh and company can land a few more key recruits.
With 20 commitments, a lot of the work is already done. Michigan has landed a top safety, a top defensive end, a bunch of linebackers, one of the best receivers in the country, a top-20 running back, a fast-riser at quarterback and a slew of offensive lineman.
There are a few holes to fill, especially at corner, defensive tackle and maybe even running back, just for depth purposes, and wide receiver too. With that in mind, here are five key targets that could be among the next wave of Michigan football commits.
