Michigan football hosted 2020 4-star wide receiver A.J. Henning over the weekend and it now feels like a commitment to the Wolverines is inevitable.

Of all the key recruits that Michigan football hosted over the weekend, none were bigger than four-star wide receiver A.J. Henning.

Henning is the top player in the state of Illinois when it comes to 2020 and he is also the top target left on the board for Michigan football, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

Yet, after a few things that happened on Sunday, I wouldn’t expect Henning to remain uncommitted long. In fact, at this point, a commitment from Henning to Michigan football is starting to feel inevitable and there are a few reasons why.

It all goes back to when Henning announced on June 13th that he was going to commit before his senior season. It seemed like a key bit of info for Michigan football because it would mean that UM was getting the last visit, presumably before Henning made his final decision.

There was a slight panic when Henning appeared to have a good visit with Penn State last weekend. He even tweeted that his decision was getting more difficult and changed his background photo to one of him in a Penn State uniform.

It might sound silly, but I assure you, it’s not. It was also a big relief and a good sign for Michigan football fans when Henning updated the photo to one of him in a Wolverines uniform. That’s the one he had previously been using for quite some time.

Mike Sainristil, the freshman wideout that hosted Henning on his visit over the weekend, also noticed the new header photo as you can see in the tweet above. You might also notice that Henning retweeted it.

If you are sick of the Twitter references, there are other reasons to feel good about where Michigan football currently stands with Henning. One convincing sign is that 247 sports recruiting expert, Steve Lorenz, put in a crystal ball predicting Henning to UM Sunday.

Things already seemed to be trending in the right direction with a positive report from Lorenz on Henning’s visit Saturday ($) and then came the crystal ball.

This was soon after Michigan’s recruiting director Matt Dudek teased some good news with his familiar Ralph Wiggum tweet Sunday, one that is well known to Michigan recruiting diehards. It’s the same one he generally tweets before big commitments are about to happen.

Dudek actually put out three tweets like that early Sunday morning, which had Michigan fans in a frenzy. The news about the commitment of three-star athlete William Mohan came out after. Dudek put out another tweet (just before Noon EST) so more good news could be on the horizon.

When it comes to Henning, nothing is certain until he makes the announcement and puts pen to paper. However, with all the clues being dropped by Lorenz, Dudek, Sainristil and Henning himself, plus the timing of his decision, which he outlined a 10 days ago, a commitment seems inevitable.
