Michigan basketball had another good night in the NBA draft Thursday and here is what it means for the Wolverines in the present and future.

As Michigan basketball fans looked forward to the 2019 NBA Draft, it was hard to know what to expect. But when it was all said and done, the night really couldn’t have gone better for the Wolverines.

A lot of fans criticized Jordan Poole when he decided to leave Michigan basketball for the NBA. Some even predicted he wouldn’t get drafted. That always seemed far-fetched. I had him as a solid second-round pick. He just had too much potential not to get selected.

Well, Poole out-performed everyone’s expectations, doing well enough in pre-draft workouts to convince the Golden State Warriors to take him with the 28th pick at the end of the first round.

It was the fourth consecutive year that a Michigan player went in the first round of the draft and it was the eighth time since 2011. By the time Ingas Brazdeikis was picked by the New York Knights 47th overall, John Beilein had 10 former Wolverines selected into the association.

Both Iggy and Poole had their decisions to leave college validated but what does that mean in the long run for the Wolverines? Are there any positives that can be taken away?

The other looming question is Charles Matthews and whether or not he will get signed as an undrafted free agent, following his ACL tear. He suffered the injury working out for the Celtics.

At any rate, here is a look back at the NBA draft and everything it means for Michigan basketball.
