Juwan Howard has been the head coach of Michigan basketball for a couple of weeks now and so far, here are the three things we have learned.

The last couple of months have been crazy for Michigan basketball as the Wolverines have undergone a massive change that wasn’t really expected.

Sure, after John Beilein flirted with the Detroit Pistons last year, there were some indications that he was ready to test the NBA waters. He did say though that Michigan basketball would be his last job and you tended to believe him.

However, the job with Cleveland came along and he jumped at the opportunity. The challenge of the NBA and coaching at the highest level of basketball was surely appealing to Beilein. At the same time, it seemed clear he was sick of everything that went into the college game — the one-and-done players, the early NBA departures, the rule-breaking by other schools — all of it.

After everything Beilein accomplished, he deserves nothing but our best wishes and with the hiring of Juwan Howard, Michigan basketball should have a good shot to maintain its standing.

There are immediate concerns about next season with three open scholarships and a noticeable hole at shooting guard. But there are core pieces as well, such as Zavier Simpson, Jon Teske and Isaiah Livers, along with a slew of four-stars, Brandon Johns, Colin Castleton and David DeJulius with untapped potential.

There are still a lot of moving parts with Michigan and with it being Howard’s first head-coaching job, there are a lot of unknowns. But even in these first few weeks, there have been some hints about how things might change and how Howard will do things.

So here is a look at the three things we have learned about the Wolverines new basketball coach in these first couple weeks.
