Michigan Basketball: 5 Bold predictions for Wolverines with Juwan Howard
The Fab Five will have a huge impact on recruiting
Juwan Howard hasn’t been formally announced as head coach and yet the Fab Five made an impact on the recruiting trail long before he or Beilein took the coaching position at Michigan and their impact will long outlive their own lives.
Specifically for the 2019-20 season, Jalen Rose is going to play a major role in recruiting. As I mentioned before, the playing days of the Fab Five are long over; however, they’re not forgotten by those were alive to see them.
Orion Sang said in a Tweet, “Former Michigan signee Jalen Wilson told me last summer that his mom named him after Jalen Rose. Curious to see what effect the hiring of another Fab Five member has on his recruitment.”
Jalen Wilson, the top Michigan basketball commit for the 2019-20 season, de-committed from the Wolverines after John Beilein moved on to the NBA, and -allegedly- his mom was such a fan of the Fab Five that she named her son after Rose.
That kid has been destined since birth to play for Michigan and his de-commitment could be temporary should Jalen give him – and his mom – a visit.
Rose is not the only one out of the five who could help steer the top uncommitted talent around the country to the Wolverines. Chris Webber was a five-time NBA All-Star and has maintained his household name by working for NBA TV as an analyst and in film, starring in the movie Uncle Drew.
Look for both or all five to make a splash on the recruiting front before the upcoming season.
