Shaka Smart

Shaka Smart has been listed by several publications as a potential candidate. Smart and Texas; however, are trying to poach the Wolverines staff while the team and fans are distracted.

According to MLive, “Michigan assistant Luke Yaklich interviewed with Smart in Austin on Thursday.”

There’s also the massive contract and an unknown but probably equally as massive buy out.

Smart, the current head coach at Texas has a fully guaranteed contract through the 2022-23, and the buyout is not being reported. All signs point to Shaka staying with the Longhorns; that leaves us with the assistants.

When John Beilein broke the news Saddi Washington and Luke Yaklich became fair game for the salivating Athletic Directors all over the NCAA. They instantly became the meat to Pavlov’s dogs and as evidenced by the Texas interview, and they are more than willing the leave.

There is zero job security in Ann Arbor especially if Warde should desire to hire Ed or the more unlikely option Smart.

We should find out soon as it’s being reported Warde should be making a decision this week, so stay tuned!
