White and Brey unlikely to leave

While it didn’t take long for names to start popping up in connection to Michigan Monday, the denials also didn’t take long either.

Oats was one of the first coaches to say he wouldn’t be interested after he just took the job at Alabama. Two others that have been mentioned, Mike White of Florida and Mike Brey of Notre Dame, also would be unlikely to take the job according to Jeff Goodman of Stadium.

To me, Brey was never really an exciting candidate. He was more of a status quo guy, someone capable of steadying the ship but not an elite hire by any means.

White, on the other hand, is a lot more interesting. He has taken Florida to an Elite 8 and three tournaments in four seasons, with one win in each. His teams play great defense and last year, he landed two five-star recruits.

Even if White is indicating he’s not interested, if the Wolverines come at him hard and offer enough money, you can never say never.
