Michigan Football: 3 Wolverines rank in NFL draft top 100

Michigan football is loaded with the top talent from around the country and three of the Wolverines were recognized as the top 100 players for the 2020 NFL draft.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that a Michigan football team with two first-round draft picks from the 2019 draft will have similar results the following year.

Devin Bush was selected as the tenth overall pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Rashan Gary went 12th to the Green Bay Packers.

In the third round, Michigan football fans got some exciting news. Chase Winovich was selected as the 14th pick by the Patriots. Chase will be living the Wolverines dream of playing with the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady.

On a side note, head coach Jim Harbaugh said on his podcast “Attack Each Day” that he believes there should be a Brady statue somewhere around the Big House and I don’t think there will be any argument against that.

Going back to the third round, David Long Jr. was taken by the Los Angeles Rams where he could have an instant impact.

Zach Gentry went in the fifth by the Steelers and if you are wondering why the Steelers took another Wolverine, look no further. Michigan alumnus and NFL Network Host Rich Eisen enthusiastically discussed the picks with Pittsburgh’s head coach Mike Tomlin and Tomlin’s response will bode well for Michigan going forward.

"“Rich, you just get that feeling when you walking into Schembechler Hall, that you’re in a college football setting,” Tomlin said. “And then you see The Big House in the back, and it lets you know you’re kinda in the right place. And I realize I’m giving you exactly what it is you want right now!”"

That may have rounded out the draft, but not the amount of Michigan men picked up by NFL teams.

Michigan football’s Twitter graphic displays 13 former Wolverines who were added to NFL teams. Karan Higdon to the Texans, Tyree Kinnel to the Bengals, Lawrence Marshall to the Bears, Wilton Speight to the 49er’s, Brandon Watson to the Jaguars, Bryan Mone to the Seahawks, Juwann Bushell-Beaty to the Redskins, and Ian Bunting also to the Bears.

Since that draft ended, there have been endless amounts of way too early projections for 2020 and one of them was released yesterday. CBS Sports Chris Trapasso didn’t take the common approach of predicting where each guy will go in which round and decided to provide his top 100 players for the 2020 draft.
