Michigan Basketball: Best options for replacing Jordan Poole in the lineup
Michigan’s top recruit could be a big two-guard
When it comes to someone who can attack the basket, Wilson could fit the bill and if Michigan basketball wants to get its five best players on the floor in the starting lineup, he could be the best option.
It remains to be seen how he will do on defense, but his offensive game certainly leads you to believe he can handle the ball as much as Poole did last season. He can create going to the bucket and is also a talented 3-point shooter.
Wilson would give Michigan another option for pick-and-roll sets, much like Poole did last season. However, at 6-foot-8, who knows how he would do defending quicker guards. It’s possible Michigan could hide him a little bit or use some more zone principles, but that’s the biggest issue I’d see with Wilson in the starting lineup there.
Whether he starts or not, Wilson will likely have to play the two spot in some lineups, just because there is going to be so much depth at the three and four. He’s a top-50 player and he needs to get on the floor as much as possible.
