Michigan Football: Way too early 2020 Wolverines draft picks
Rounds three through seven
Nico Collins
Should all three of Michigan football receivers decide to depart early, this is the way I see them getting drafted. DPJ in the first, Black in the second, and Nico Collins in the third; however, it’s unlikely all three will have the necessary success this year to find their way onto an NFL roster and with the injuries still lingering in the receiver core, I could see at least two of them returning for another year.
Speaking of injuries, Nico was the benefactor of the damaged wideouts and he took full advantage. During the 2018 campaign, Nico caught 39 passes for 632 yards; 20 more yards than DPJ.
Should he have another 600+ yard season or something more productive, he could find his way to a weekend selection in 2020.
Offensive line
The draft position for any of Michigan football’s offensive line will be directly tied to the season the maize and blue have in 2019. A dominating performance, a Big Ten championship, and a spot in the playoffs could net one or two of the big men in the NFL. Another 10-2 season could lead to priority free agent status or worse.
Who else?
Beyond those guys, you have Sean McKeon who could turn into Shea Patterson’s goto guy and – barring a Gentry type combine performance – make his way onto the 53 man roster or at least on a practice squad while he develops.
Josh Uche, J’Marick Woods, Lavert Hill, and Carlo Kemp are all wild cards who could potentially walk on the big stage in Las Vegas, the 2020 destination for the NFL Draft. No matter what happens today, tomorrow, or next year, the Michigan men will continue the tradition of 81 consecutive years of players selected in the NFL draft – longer than any other school in the country.
