Michigan football recently concluded spring practices and here is a look at how the Wolverines depth chart looks on defense heading into the fall.

Throughout the spring for Michigan football and really since the end of last season, there has been a ton of focus on the offense and with new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis running the show, you can see why.

Watching the Wolverines run their offense during the spring was exciting. Michigan football fans saw a more aggressive, attacking style and if all the talk about the new system pans out, it should make a real impact for UM this fall.

But let’s not forget that the defense had its own issues last season. Certainly, Michigan was one of the top overall units in the country, however, the Ohio State performance still sticks out as a shining example of what went wrong and what has gone wrong under defensive coordinator Don Brown.

While Brown has to figure out how to make his man-system relevant, maybe with a few tweaks, he also had some big personnel holes to fill as Rashan Gary, Chase Winovich, Devin Bush and David Long are all gone.

Yet, a lot of young guys have stepped up, whether it’s along the defensive line, at linebacker or in the secondary, players are coming to the forefront and it gives Michigan a chance to be really deep on all three levels of the defense this fall.

For now though, here is a stab at what the two-deep looks like following spring ball.
