The top three quarterbacks all improved

It might seem like a cop-out but it’s hard to choose one of three quarterbacks out of Patterson, Dylan McCaffrey and Joe Milton in terms of who had the best spring.

All three adapted well to Josh Gattis system and it makes sense because of their backgrounds in spread systems. Patterson ran the spread at Ole Miss and running RPOs and the no-huddle looks second nature to him.

Yet, McCaffrey also had a strong spring camp and he proved that he is back to being 100 percent following his injury. He threw the football well in the scrimmage Saturday and also was effective as a runner.

Milton also took steps forward this spring and that was encouraging to see. Both of the young guys have blown past Brandon Peters on the depth chart and if all goes to plan, Michigan football should have a great succession plan at quarterback for years to come.

More than that, Harbaugh finally has the kind of quarterback depth that great programs expect to have because Patterson, McCaffrey and Milton would probably all start for just about anyone in the Big Ten.
