Michigan Football: 5 key takeaways from offense so far this spring
Michigan football has undertaken some big changes on offense for the 2019 season and so far in spring here are five takeaways from that side of the ball.
It has been a busy spring for the Michigan football program, especially when it comes to the offensive side of the ball, where the Wolverines have been working under new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis.
Obviously, any time you hire an offensive coordinator it leads to some changes but for the Wolverines, some of those changes sound pretty drastic.
When Gattis was hired, many wondered how much control Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh would be willing to give up? After all, he ran the offense for the San Francisco 49ers and has been hands-on with quarterbacks and play calling throughout his coaching career.
Yet, every sign we have seen this spring shows that Gattis has complete control of the offense. Harbaugh recognized his system is better suited for the pro game. Hopefully, the soul-crushing loss to Ohio State last November awoke him to the need for change.
Whatever the reason, the Wolverines are doing things differently and while it’s hard to gauge things at practice, especially with very little access, there is a lot of positivity flowing out of Michigan football right now.
On Sunday, I took a look at five things we have learned about the defense so far this spring and after checking out all the information available about the offense, here are five takeaways up to this point in spring ball.
