Michigan basketball saw its NCAA tournament come to an end Thursday night as Texas Tech dominated the Wolverines 63-44. Here is a look back at 2018-19.

If you had told me that Michigan basketball was going to lose to Texas Tech Thursday night in Anaheim, California, I wouldn’t have found that shocking.

What was shocking, however, was the way that Michigan basketball saw its season come to a close.

Making their third straight appearance in the Sweet 16 as the second seed in the West region, the Wolverines scored a paltry16 first-half points and for the game, UM scored only 44 in what has to be the worst offensive performance in the John Beilein era — at least in the NCAA tourney.

Ugly doesn’t begin to describe how bad Michigan played Thursday night.

UM seemed frazzled early and that led to a bunch of uncharacteristic turnovers. The Wolverines were also really timid and in the first 20 minutes, they couldn’t make a shot — literally.

Outside of free throws, Michigan didn’t score a single point outside the paint and in the second half, things didn’t get any better.

When the 40 minutes was over, Michigan basketball made one 3-pointer. It was an embarrassing performance but it shouldn’t wipe away what turned out to be a really good season.

It was disappointing because this team had two really good chances to hang Big Ten championship banners and couldn’t seal the deal. But a third straight Sweet 16 means something and here is a look at the biggest takeaways from the 2018-19 season.
