Michigan Basketball: 3 predictions for Wolverines against Texas Tech
Can Michigan grind out a win?
Winning games in March takes mental toughness and Michigan basketball is going to need some of that to knock off the Red Raiders tonight.
These are two of the best defensive teams in college basketball and both are extremely stingy in terms of points allowed and field-goal percentage defense. Texas Tech shoots 36 percent from 3-point range while Michigan is at 35. Both teams defend the three well and also defend 2-point shots well too. Michigan has Teske inside. Tech has Tariq Owens, a 6-foot-10 rim protector.
One edge maybe to Michigan is the fact that the Wolverines have played more elite defensive teams than Texas Tech and also a tougher schedule. Michigan feels more battle tested and if it can execute, which means taking care of the ball, limiting fouls and shooting a decent percentage, it should be able to sneak out a win.
The Red Raiders aren’t going to make it easy though. Davide Moretti and Matt Mooney can score and head coach Chris Beard is one of the best minds in college hoops. Truly, the Wolverines are going to have to win this game with elite defense and precise offensive execution.
Prediction: Michigan gets off to a hot start and gets a lead, then is able to make it stick by a score of 60-56.
