Michigan Basketball: 5 reasons Wolverines can make Final Four again
Michigan has the players required to reach the Final Four
When it comes down to it, there are probably 10-12 teams that have a legitimate shot of cutting the nets down and believe it or not, Michigan basketball is one of those teams.
The Wolverines have the No. 2 scoring defense in the country and according to Kenpom, the second-best defense in terms of efficiency. Overall, he has them ranked fifth heading into March Madness, so this team making the Final Four shouldn’t shock anyone.
Brazdeikis was Big Ten Freshman of the Year for a reason and he’s going to be an NBA player someday, maybe even next season. Poole also had the tools to be an NBA draft pick along with Matthews and potentially even Simpson, Teske and Livers.
Five players on this team earned some sort of All-Big Ten honors and when everything is clicking like it was in early-season wins over Villanova and North Carolina, Michigan is as good as just about any team in the country.
Obviously, the Wolverines need to learn how to close out elite teams and both Iggy and Poole will need to be lights out, but if everything comes together, Michigan could easily be in the Final Four once again in 2019.
