Michigan Basketball: 5 reasons Wolverines can make Final Four again
Michigan seemingly got an easier road than the Spartans
One of the most frustrating things about the Big Ten tournament is that the selection committee doesn’t seem to care about what happens in the championship game.
Michigan got a seven seed after winning it two years ago and Michigan State, after sweeping Michigan, got a two seed. What really upset Spartans fans though and even followers of the Big Ten was the way that Michigan seemed to get a better bracket.
Obviously, the West Region is still difficult with Gonzaga, Texas Tech and Florida State, however, it doesn’t have Duke and that is the biggest complaint. Michigan State could also see two Big Ten teams on the way to the Elite 8 and those can be tough battles come tournament time.
Michigan also will have challenges. Montana won’t be easy in a rematch of last year’s tournament game and Nevada or Florida will be tough in the round of 32. Even in the Sweet 16, Texas Tech would be a handful and it remains to be seen if Michigan could beat the Zags.
But, if Michigan fans are being honest, they would choose their teams bracket over Michigan State’s and ultimately, it could help Michigan reach the national semifinals again.
