Great guard play wins in the big dance

When it’s tournament time, taking care of the ball is one of the most important things. Turnovers kill you in close games and you need to have a point guard that can run the show, break the press and do all the little things.

Over the years, Michigan basketball has had some great point guards like Trey Burke and Derrick Walton and now Zavier Simpson is that guy.

While Simpson doesn’t score a ton of points, he impacts the game in a lot of different ways. He scores around nine points a game and does a great job of getting into the lane and creating shots for his teammates, but on top of that, he’s an elite defender.

He also runs an offense that averages just 8.8 turnovers per game, which ranks 2nd in the nation. If Michigan can take care of the ball like that and get the kind of play they have gotten from Simpson most of the season, the Wolverines are going to be tough to beat.

Cassius Winston might have Simpson’s number right now, but trust me, few other point guards in America are as good as him.
