Michigan has a good shot at the Sweet 16

While a lot of people will want to talk about a potential matchup between Michigan basketball and Gonzaga or Texas Tech or whoever else, each weekend of the NCAA tournament is a four-team tournament.

For the Wolverines to advance to the second weekend of the Big Dance, they will need to win the tournament out of UM, Montana, Florida and Nevada. On paper, that appears to be very doable.

Of course, nothing during this time of the year is going to come easy. Nevada is a strong team and they are talented, especially on the offensive end. Yet, they aren’t tested and after suffering some blowout losses, you wonder if they could handle Michigan’s defense.

Florida could certainly handle the Wolverines in terms of strength and athleticism. The Gators are also a really good defensive team and could force Michigan into a low-scoring affair.

But as I said, every team is going to provide a challenge and Michigan will need to avoid to kind of poor offensive showing that has cost them at times this season.
