Michigan Football: 3 things we learned from Wolverines pro day
Michigan football hosted its pro day for the NFL draft Friday and here are three things we learned about the Wolverines top prospects.
After taking part in the NFL combine a few weeks ago, Michigan football welcomed 100 different NFL personnel members to Ann Arbor Friday for the Wolverines pro day.
Of course, Michigan’s pro day is always going to attract plenty of scouts because the Wolverines have a strong tradition of turning out NFL players and that trend has even increased in recent years under head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Back in 2016, the program set a record with 11 players selected in the NFL draft along with two players in the first round in Jabrill Peppers and Taco Charlton. Last year’s draft was a little down for the Wolverines but with guys like Devin Bush, Rashan Gary, Chase Winovich, David Long, Zach Gentry and Karan Higdon, Michigan football should have a big presence again at the 2019 draft.
The pre-draft process is a long and winding road sometimes and players need to impress along the way. What they put out on film isn’t going to be enough for NFL teams, who want to see the 40 times and all the different measurable statistics, which they use to confirm what happened during game action.
Meeting certainly numbers in the 40-yard dash and different things can be important and Gentry is at least one guy that came with something to prove. All in all, it was a solid day for Michigan football’s top prospects and here are the three things we learned.
