Michigan will survive the first weekend of March Madness

It might be hard to predict what is going to happen in the NCAA tournament, however, after the way the Wolverines have performed all season long, as well as their recent history under John Beilein, you have to feel confident about their chances of making another run.

According to the latest bracket projections from ESPN and CBS, the Wolverines are a No. 2 seed. ESPN has them in the West with Gonzaga as the No. 1 seed, while CBS has Michigan as the two seed in the same bracket as Virginia in the East.

In terms of travel, the East bracket would be better, other than that, Michigan shouldn’t have a preference. UM can eventually worry about the top seeds in its bracket, but on the first weekend, it’s about survival and advancing.

Michigan barely made it to the Sweet 16 a season ago and even though I expect them to get tested by a solid opponent in round three, Beilein will get his squad to the Sweet 16 for the third year in a row, something the Wolverines haven’t done since the days of the Fab Five.
