Michigan Basketball: 5 bold predictions for Wolverines this March
Michigan basketball will wrap up its regular season Saturday at Michigan State and then March Madness truly begins. With that in mind, here are five bold predictions for the Wolverines in the month of March 2019.
Over the last two seasons, few teams have had as much success as Michigan basketball has had when it comes to the month of March.
In March of 2017, all the Michigan basketball team did was win four games in four days at the Big Ten tournament after their plane went off the runway. That was the Wolverines first tournament title since 1998 and the next week, they upset second-seeded Louisville to advance to the Sweet 16.
That was an incredible run but Michigan basketball went even farther in March 2018. Of course, that run started at Madison Square Garden, where the Wolverines again won four games in four days to win a second straight Big Ten tournament championship.
Beating Michigan State in the semifinals of that tournament in New York was one of the high points of the 2017-18 season and it helped the Wolverines get a No. 2 seed when the NCAA tournament rolled around a couple of weeks later.
And we all know what Michigan was able to do in the 2018 NCAA tournament as the Wolverines advanced all the way to the championship game against Villanova.
There were some magical moments along the way like Jordan Poole’s game-winning 3-pointer against Houston or the comeback win over Loyola in the national semifinal.
After another strong season, Michigan will look to create some more memorable moments this month and here are five bold predictions about what is to come this March.
