Higdon rises while Gentry falls

While much of the attention this week is on the defensive side of the ball with four really marquee guys headed to the draft, Michigan football still had two important offensive players from last season in attendance in Karan Higdon and Zach Gentry.

Higdon, who ran for over 1,100 yards during his senior season definitely helped himself with a strong 40 time that was clocked at 4.4. He’s not an elite prospect by any means, but he’s a tough runner that would be great in a platoon situation. He seems like a day three pick, yet someone in the fifth or sixth round could wind up really happy with him.

Higdon did well for himself at the combine but unfortunately, Gentry didn’t. The tight end posted a 4.91 in the 40-yard dash, a time that was surprisingly slow for a move tight end.

Gentry, who left Michigan as an underclassman, will have another chance to run at the Wolverines Pro Day, but even if he runs a better time, it’s going to raise some questions and will likely prevent him from getting drafted during the first two days of the draft.
