Michigan Basketball: 3 predictions for Wolverines against Michigan State
Michigan will bring it and beat the Spartans
Nothing is ever guaranteed when it comes to Michigan basketball and Michigan State. But one thing about this Wolverines team is that against elite competition, they have been at their absolute best.
At home, the Wolverines are 5-0 against ranked teams and overall, thanks to a big road win at Villanova, Michigan is 6-0 against top-25 teams and it is winning those games by an average of 16 points. Only the home win over Wisconsin was decided by single digits.
As far as Michigan State is concerned, the Spartans are 5-1 against ranked teams, yet they haven’t played a top-10 team outside of Kansas. Plus, four of those wins came before the injuries to Langford and Ward.
Beyond that, Michigan has gotten up for each of its big games this season and unless they overlook teams, the Wolverines have been borderline dominant this season. I don’t expect them to dominate Michigan State, but if their record in big games lately is any indication, Michigan will win this one too, even though it won’t be easy.
Michigan basketball will be highly motivated and with the Spartans so short-handed, the Wolverines should be good enough to win at home.
Final score: Michigan 65, Michigan State 58.
