Michigan Basketball: 3 predictions for Wolverines against Ohio State
Michigan basketball will battle Ohio State tonight at Crisler Center. Here are three predictions in the only matchup between the two teams this season.
While the rivalry between Michigan basketball and Ohio State may not be quite as intense on the hardwood, make no mistake, the game tonight between the Wolverines and Buckeyes is a big one.
No matter what the sport, Michigan and Ohio State will never see eye-to-eye and even though Ohio State dominated this series at the start of John Beilein’s tenure, who is 7-15 overall against the Buckeyes, things have changed in recent years.
But last season, the two teams split, with each team winning once on their home floor against the other. This season, this will be the only meeting between Michigan basketball, which is currently ranked fifth and Ohio State, which comes in unranked.
Yet, the Buckeyes are fresh off a huge road win at Nebraska last Saturday. Ohio State was reeling prior to that, having lost five straight. Now, they are back in the hunt for a solid seed in the Big Ten tournament and have more breathing room when it comes to making the NCAA tournament.
A win at Michigan would be huge for the Buckeyes and their resume. For the Wolverines, this game is about maintaining, beating a hated rival and tying things up with Michigan State in the Big Ten Standings. The Spartans are 9-1, UM is 8-1.
So it’s a big game all around and we break it down, plus offer three predictions for the Buckeyes and Wolverines.
