Patterson will be the best QB in the Big Ten next season

If it wasn’t for Dwayne Haskins this past season at Ohio State, Patterson probably would have been the best quarterback in the Big Ten last season. At the very least, he was in the conversation going into the final game of the season. Unfortunately, we all know how that worked out.

But Patterson, who earned Third-Team All-Big Ten honors last season, is going to be in line for a big season. He will have to adapt to a new system under Gattis but he will have all spring and fall to prepare as the starting quarterback.

When Gattis was at Penn State, he saw first hand what Trace McSorley can do and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Patterson turn in a highly productive season. Not only is Gattis going to loosen the reigns, but he will also make things easier.

Michigan made getting the ball to its impact players too difficult. The objective is to get speed in space and sometimes that can mean easy throws by Patterson. I’d expect to see more of that and overall, I’d expect Patterson to flourish in the Wolverines new offense.
