Michigan Basketball: 3 things we learned from win over Indiana
The Big Ten looks like a two-horse race
This past weekend was an important one for the Big Ten race because the last four undefeated teams met Saturday and Sunday. First, it was Michigan State and Ohio State Saturday, followed by Michigan and Indiana Sunday.
Michigan basketball might be getting a lot of the headlines right now, but the Spartans are for real too and they showed that with an impressive 86-77 road win against Ohio State Saturday. Michigan State is 4-0 and tied for first with Michigan, as well as being 12-2 overall with the losses coming to Kansas and Louisville.
The Spartans have also beaten some quality teams such as Iowa, Ohio State and UCLA, giving them three wins over ranked teams. The Wolverines have four and the victories over Villanova, North Carolina, Purdue and Indiana, have come by an average of 18.5 points.
Unfortunately, we have a ways to go before the Spartans and Wolverines can battle it out. Michigan and Michigan State will play two of the final four games of the regular season but as of right now, it’s easy to see they are the clear favorites in the Big Ten.
Both teams also appear to be national title contenders, meaning those two games in February are going to be fun to watch. Those two games will also decide this year’s Big Ten champion.
