Michigan Football: Multiple Wolverines flash at All-American Bowl
Whether it was Cornelius Johnson, Daxton Hill or Chris Hinton, Michigan football got impressive performances in the All-American bowl from everyone.
The All-American Bowl is one of the top high school all-star games in the country and Saturday in San Antonio, three future Michigan football players made their presence known.
The Wolverines had three signees from the 2019 recruiting class in attendance and one of them was Cornelius Johnson, a four-star wide receiver from Connecticut, who has turned heads all week long.
Well, in the game Saturday, Johnson showed Michigan football fans once again what he can do, catching two touchdown passes for the East team.
Johnson didnβt get a ton of work until the second half, but when he got his chance, he took advantage and soon after reaching the end zone, he scored his second touchdown of the game.
While Johnson probably had the most notable performance, Michigan football fans also caught a glimpse of what Daxton Hill and Hinton are both capable of. Hinton ended up with a fumble recovery, while Hill made his most notable play on a four-star receiver committed to Purdue.
Hill, who is 6-foot and runs the forty in 4.3, is a defensive back with the ability to play both safety and corner and he showed that in the All-American Bowl Saturday.
Hill was covering a corner route and while he was beat early, he used his recovery speed to make a play on the ball. His flipped his hips very smoothly and he also made some nice tackles in the game, showing his versatility.
Of course, there is no point is overreacting to what we saw this week and in the game Saturday, but there is no doubt that Johnson looks like he could compete for playing time right away at wide receiver next season and that is saying something.
Hill looked the part and heβs a guy that you would expect to start or at least play significant snaps from day one. He has the explosiveness that Michigan football has been missing in the secondary. Hinton should also contend for playing time right away, especially following the transfer of Aubrey Solomon.
All in all, it was a good day for Michigan football and its fans as they got to catch a glimpse of three players that could be stars one day for the Wolverines.
