Michigan Basketball: 3 predictions for Wolverines against Indiana
Michigan will need to win the turnover battle
When you look at Michigan and Indiana, you see two teams that are somewhat similar. Indiana is built around its defense and Langford, as well as Juwan Morgan, who averages 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds. Morgan and Langford, who averages 18.3 PPG, are responsible for a huge chunk of Indiana’s offense and that is the one big difference.
Another is that Indiana turns the ball over a lot, just under 15 times a game. Michigan, on the other hand, turns it over 9.5 times per game. When it comes to defense, Indiana does force a lot of turnovers, but few teams take care of the ball as well as the Wolverines, so you have to give the edge to Michigan.
Much like the Penn State game, Michigan will have an edge with turnovers and also on 3-pointers. Indiana doesn’t take a ton of 3-pointers and while they shoot a decent percentage, Michigan has more shooters, even if Isaiah Livers is unable to go.
In a game that should prove to be close, Michigan will need to win the turnover battle and outscore Indiana from beyond the arc to win. Otherwise, the Hoosiers will end the Wolverines undefeated start to the season.
