Michigan revived its reputation on the recruiting trail

Recruiting is the lifeblood of college football and I’d be surprised if you haven’t heard that phrase hundreds of times in your life as a fan of the sport. It’s annoying but it’s true.

During the 2017 season and the 2018 recruiting class though, Michigan football put together a solid class but one that lacked elite talent. The 2018 class was 22nd in the nation and ranked third in the Big Ten behind Ohio State and Penn State.

The class featured some nice players like Aidan Hutchinson, Cameron McGrone, Joe Milton, Mustapha Muhammad and others, however, Michigan needed to do better if the goal is to be the best team in the Big Ten.

And in this recruiting cycle, the Wolverines bounced back in a big way. Not only did Michigan land Daxton Hill, a five-star safety with game-changing ability, but UM also loaded up on four-star guys on both lines and added one of the best running backs in America in Zach Charbonnet.

Recruiting rankings aren’t the end all, yet it’s sure nice to see Michigan sign the top recruiting class in the Big Ten, which it currently has and the No. 8 group nationally. So for those that were worried about Harbaugh’s ability to recruit, don’t worry, that is the one area where he hasn’t disappointed.
