Michigan basketball will host North Carolina Wednesday night in a showdown of top-15 teams. Here are five predictions for the Wolverines and the Tar Heels.

After beating Villanova on the road a couple of weeks ago, the Michigan basketball team grabbed the attention of the college basketball world. Now, the Wolverines will try to do it again by knocking off North Carolina inside Crisler Center Wednesday night.

The matchup between two of the most successful college hoops programs over the past two years is the highlight of the Big Ten-ACC Challenge and is also a rematch of a game between the two teams last season in Chapel Hill.

North Carolina won that game going away. However, when it came to the NCAA tournament, Michigan basketball got the last laugh. UM and UNC appeared to be on a collision course to meet in the Sweet 16, however, the Tar Heels were upset by Texas A&M, a team Michigan destroyed on its way to the National Championship game.

Any time you have the national champion from two years ago and the national runner-up from last season, it’s going to be a big game. Add in the past history between these two programs (Chris Webber game) and you can see why it’s the marquee game of the challenge once again.

North Carolina is 6-1 and has a recent win over UCLA, as well as a loss to Texas. Michigan, on the other hand, is 6-0. The Wolverines best wins were over Villanova, the defending national champs and Providence.

The Wolverines will come in ranked seventh, while North Carolina is 11th, so it should be a fun game, one that could be a huge resume builder for either team. With that in mind, here are five predictions and everything you need to know.
