Michigan Football: 5 predictions for the Wolverines against Ohio State
Michigan football takes on Ohio State Saturday and here are five predictions for the Wolverines in their biggest game of 2018.
Make no mistake, the biggest game of the season for Michigan football is Ohio State and Saturday, with everything on the line, the Wolverines finally get their shot at the Buckeyes.
Certainly, I might be a little bias, yet I don’t know any college football rivalry that is quite like Michigan and Ohio State. Not only do the two teams just hate each other, but more often than not, this game has massive implications in the Big Ten and National Championship race.
That is true again this year. Both Michigan football and Ohio State are alive for the College Football Playoff. For the Wolverines, it’s simple: win and they are in (most likely). If Georgia upsets Alabama in the SEC title game, that could throw a wrench in things but outside of that, if UM wins out, it will be in the top four.
For Ohio State, it’s more complicated. The Buckeyes come into this game ranked 10th. That puts them behind Oklahoma, Washington St, Central Florida and others. That’s a steep hill to climb.
Beating Michigan would help but it’s still hard to see the Buckeyes leapfrogging the Sooners and Washington State, who play a top-15 team in Washington Friday.
However, the playoff should be a secondary concern for both schools. Winning “The Game” is bigger than all of that. The winner also wins the Big Ten East and plays Northwestern for the Big Ten championship. The stakes couldn’t be any higher and with that in mind, here are five predictions.
