Michigan Basketball: 3 takeaways from win over George Washington
Poole adds another dimension when he’s hitting 3’s
While it was great to see Matthews continue his hot streak, the best thing I saw from Michigan basketball against George Washington was Poole catching fire from deep.
This Michigan team was always going to be young and counting on guys to step up, however, Poole was supposed to be one of the guys taking a big leap and so far this season, we haven’t seen it.
Well, we did Saturday. Poole not only scored 22 points, he connected five times from beyond the arc. Poole also shot well from the field overall, hitting 7-of-12 shots and also connecting on 3-of-3 attempts at the line.
With Matthews and Ignas Brazdeikis, the Wolverines have two guys that are good at getting to the bucket. Poole can be good at that too, yet this team needs 3-point shooters to be successful and Poole has the potential to be the best one.
For the first time this season, he looked like that guy Saturday and hopefully, for the Wolverines, that continues, because Michigan is an entirely different team when Poole is rolling. It’s like night and day.
