Another rough road start for the Wolverines

This is going to be really nit-picky, but when a team doesn’t have a lot of weaknesses, you have to dig a little deeper. For this Michigan football team though, one weakness of sorts is starting slow on the road.

We all know what happened in the first game of the season at Notre Dame. Michigan found itself in a 21-3 hole and was unable to dig out of it. The Wolverines also spotted Northwestern 17 points and was tied with Michigan State 7-7 late into the third quarter, despite dominating the game most of the way.

It’s not unusual for teams to play worse on the road, it’s pretty natural. And against a 1-8 team, the Wolverines probably weren’t super motivated. To their credit, they did wake up and outscored Rutgers 35-0 in the final three quarters, however, the performance just wasn’t super impressive.

All season long, Michigan hasn’t been as sharp on the road and hopefully, that’s not an issue that rears its ugly head in Columbus in the final week of the regular season.
