During the mid-1990s, Jon Jansen established himself as one of the more dominant offensive linemen in all of college football. A four-year starter for the Wolverines, Jansen helped the team to the 1997 national title, paving the way for Michigan to be an explosive offense on the ground and through the air.

Jansen actually played tight end during his high school days, as he was a standout player at Clawson (MI) High School. He decided to stay in-state for his college ball, choosing the Wolverines, where he was moved to the offensive line. Good thing too, as he became an anchor on the offensive line for four years.

During his time at Michigan, “Rock” started 50 straight games at right tackle, which happens to be a school record. A First-Team All-American as a senior, Jansen was the team’s co-captain as a junior and senior, which is not something that happens often at Michigan. He was a leader on and off the field.

Jansen became a second-round pick of the Washington Redskins in the 1999 NFL Draft, as they made him the No. 37 selection overall. He played well in the NFL, becoming a second-team All-Pro. Jansen would finish his career in 2009 as a member of the Detroit Lions. The Wolverines dominated the Big Ten in the mid-1990s, and Jansen is a big reason for that.
