Donovan Peoples-Jones has made huge strides

There are a few wide receivers and pass catchers that have taken huge steps forward in 2018, as Zach Gentry and Nico Collins are two others who have made names for themselves, however, Donovan Peoples-Jones still stands out above the rest.

As a freshman, Peoples-Jones, the top-ranked wideout in the 2017 class, failed to live up to expectations. He caught 22 passes for 277 yards and didn’t score a touchdown. This season, he has already matched his reception total of 22 but also has 323 yards and six receiving touchdowns, including the 79-yarder against Michigan State that will live on forever.

That play alone is enough to put Peoples-Jones on this list. Yet, he also has a 61-yard punt return for a touchdown and a game with three touchdown receptions.

His development with Patterson throwing him the ball has been noticeable, but his routes and hands are also much better than they were a season ago. Now, if the Wolverines need a big play or a key first down, they know they can trust Peoples-Jones to deliver, unlike a season ago.
