Michigan Football: 4 teams you should root for during the bye week

Root for the Spartans, as long as it won’t kill you

As Michigan football fans, we hate Michigan State, there really is no way around that. However, after the Wolverines thoroughly embarrassed the Spartans last week, it will be a lot easier to cheer for them with UM’s best interests at heart.

Unlike Penn State, who the Wolverines play next week, Michigan already beat Michigan State. While that is all well and good, it won’t be as good if the Spartans fall off the map starting this week against Purdue.

In fact, Michigan wants Michigan State to win as many games as possible in the closing stretch. Each win will make the Wolverines look better for beating the Spartans on the road and will help with the committee if Michigan can hold up its end of the bargain.

Since we are talking about teams Michigan already beat, it wouldn’t be bad to cheer on the Badgers against Northwestern, although since the Wolverines beat both, it will help, either way, Wisconsin just seems more likely to finish highly ranked.
