Michigan football dominated Michigan State last Saturday in East Lansing, 21-7. Here are five things we learned from the Wolverines impressive victory.

It has been two days since the Michigan football team went into Spartan Stadium and won back the Paul Bunyan Trophy. However, even though it has been over 48 hours, as a Wolverines fan, it’s a win that still tastes pretty sweet.

Just think about the heartache of Michigan football fans in recent seasons. There was the loss in 2015 to Michigan State, one that was as bad as the 1994 Kordell Stewart Hail Mary. There was also the 2016 loss to Ohio State and the rainstorm in 2017 against the Spartans, which seemed to sink the Wolverines season.

At times Saturday, you wondered if Michigan would pull it off. The defense was dominating. It was as good as it could possibly be but two fumbles by the offense put the outcome in doubt, at least until Shea Patterson and Donovan Peoples-Jones hooked up for a 79-yard touchdown, a play that will live on in Michigan history for quite some time.

While the Wolverines only won 21-7, they could have won by a lot more. It was a dominating effort and it was the most impressive road win Michigan has notched since 2006 when Lloyd Carr was the head coach.

Beating the 24th-ranked team in the country doesn’t seem significant, but for this program, it was and here are the five most important things we learned from the Wolverines domination Saturday.
