Moe Wagner will be the next Michigan basketball player drafted Thursday night in the 2018 NBA draft and here are three potential fits that just make sense.

The NBA draft has become an exciting ritual for Michigan basketball. That’s because, under head coach John Beilein, the Wolverines have had someone selected more often than not.

Since Beilein took over, eight Michigan basketball players have been selected in the draft, including six in the first round. D.J. Wilson went 20th to the Bucks last year. In 2016, it was Caris Lavert going to the Nets; Mitch McGary and Nik Stauskas both went first round in 2014, as did Tim Hardaway III and Trey Burke in 2013.

It remains to be seen whether or not Moe Wagner will become Beilein’s seventh first rounder, but he will get his name called today, likely within the first 40 picks. The buzz on Wagner is that his stock is rising and it’s possible that he squeaks into the first round.

Sometimes it’s hard to match players with teams. Workouts can give us an indication and the Wizards are a team that has shown interest recently. He has also worked out with around six other teams, so there are lots of options.

Wagner has size and can shoot. He’s a skilled offensive player and excels in the small ball. He could be the perfect five in the new-age NBA or at least a very good stretch four.

Lots of teams will have an interest in that skill set. But hours before the draft, here are the three best and most likely fits.
