Michigan football has always had all the pieces to be really good and in 2018, it’s all going to come together.

The 2018 season is a going to be a pivotal one for Michigan football. But in Jim Harbaugh‘s fourth season at the helm, there are more than a few reasons to be optimistic.

Last season was a disappointment. We all know that. But with a young team and a really bad quarterback situation, Michigan football was still competitive against some of the best team in the country. Certainly some of the best in the Big Ten.

With John O’Korn at quarterback, Michigan held its own against Ohio State and had the ball with a chance to take the lead in the final minutes. The loss absolutely sucked. But give Harbaugh and crew some credit. He almost pulled the upset with John O’Korn.

The Wolverines need to learn how to win big games. But they have the talent too. Since he arrived on campus, Harbaugh has excelled in recruiting. He has brought aboard guys like Rashan Gary, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Aubrey Solomon, Lavert Hill, David Long, Devin Bush Jr and now Shea Patterson.

But the list goes on and on. The coaching staff is great too. The schedule is brutal and that will be the biggest obstacle to 10 wins. For some reason, that number sticks out to me. Michigan football needs at least 10 wins and probably a win over Michigan State (at a minimum) or Ohio State to call 2018 a success.

Here are three reasons why they will get those things done.
