Michigan football boasts a talented roster heading into the 2018 season. Here is a look at the Wolverines top-5 NFL draft prospects.

When it comes to the 2018 season, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about Michigan football. The Wolverines return Jim Harbaugh and a talented roster of NFL hopefuls.

Last season was definitely a disappointment for Michigan football. Winning eight games and not having a single player picked in the first round of the NFL draft is not what UM needs consistently. Of course, Maurice Hurst had a heart condition that knocked him out of the first, but still, the Wolverines need to consistently produce high-end NFL talent. And also early-round draft picks.

Winning games and getting players to the NFL. Those are the two things that matter in recruiting. Through the first three years of Harbaugh, Michigan has had mixed results in both areas.

UM won 10 games in both 2015 and 2016, which was a good start. However, an 8-5 campaign last season stalled that momentum. Michigan also had 11 players drafted in the 2017 NFL draft, a number that dipped back to two players last season.

While it’s hard to predict where Michigan will land in terms of on-field success, there is no doubt UM is headed for a bounce-back year in the draft. Rashan Gary could contend for the top pick and others are also viewed favorably before the 2018 season even begins.

Most of the draft talent remains on defense. But there are really good players on offense too and for an in-depth look at the top-5 draft prospects for Michigan football heading into 2018, here ya go:
