Does Beilein care about the benjamins?

Certainly, anytime a coach goes from college to the NBA, money is a factor in the decision. Coaching Michigan basketball has been good for Beilein but his salary ranks ninth in the country overall.

Beilein’s assistant coaches are also greatly underpaid compared to the assistant coaches for the Michigan football program. Beilein is not one to complain. Yet, after all of his success, he might feel more compensation is in order for him and his staff.

Many have speculated that Beilein is just flirting with the Pistons job as a negotiation ploy, hoping it will lead to a more lucrative contract extension. Personally, I don’t believe Beilein would do that and he is his own agent.

I do believe there is more too it than money. However, when you are being offered a big pay raise from your current gig, no matter who you are, that is hard to pass up.
