The first round of the 2018 NFL Draft is just hours away. What round will former Michigan Football stars get selected?

It’s an exciting time for both college and NFL football fans across the world. The first round of the NFL Draft starts tonight, meaning 32 college standouts will find their NFL homes. One former Michigan Football player has a chance getting drafted in the first round as well. Here’s a last second prediction of where your former Michigan standouts will get selected this weekend.

DT, Maurice Hurst

Maurice Hurst was a weapon for the Wolverines during his time in Ann Arbor. In 41 games Mo accounted for 13.5 sacks and 32 tackles for loss. Walterfootball.com has Hurst going No. 18 overall in their mock draft, but other sources disagree.

ESPN’s mock draft doesn’t even have Mo listed in the first round. His heart condition is the primary reason for his mixed draft predictions. Star Lotulelei was diagnosed with the same heart condition prior to his draft, but still went early in the first round. With that said, I think Mo will be a late first round steal for any team that’s in need of a solid anchor on their d line.

OL, Mason Cole

Mason Cole is another player who’s seen his stock go up and down. Cole is currently rated as the No. 84 overall player on NFL.com Mike Mayock’s top 100 prospects. That would land him in the end of the third round, but others like Lance Zierlein believe he’s more of a 4-5 round pick.

I like Mason as an early fourth round selection because he’s started multiple games at center and left tackle. Versatility can go very far for an offensive lineman in the professional game.

LB, Mike McCray

For the past two seasons Mike McCray has been the leader of this elite Michigan defense. He’s compiled 30.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks in just 29 games. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein projects McCray as a 4-5 round pick.

I think McCray will fall into the late fifth or early sixth round because he didn’t have an impressive combine. Regardless of the round, I believe McCray has the potential to develop quickly and make an impact as a rookie.

FB, Khalid Hill

I still believe Khalid Hill has a chance of getting picked in the late rounds of the draft. Walterfootball.com now has Hill listed as the No. 6 fullback prospect, despite his impressive stats. He has tons of experience and reps in Jim Harbaugh’s pro style offense. Did I mention he’s scored 16 touchdowns by way of rushing and receiving? I think his stats and film will standout enough for him to be selected over other fullback prospects. I like Hill going as one of the last overall picks late in the seventh round.

Next: Could Maurice Hurst fall past the first round?

The first round of the 2018 NFL Draft will start at 8 PM Eastern time on ESPN. Rounds two and three will be on Friday at 7PM, concluding with the last four rounds on Saturday.
